Although we recognize that the TLC5928x ICs are designed for driving LEDs, although they could be a nice a compact way to drive small signal relays with a low constant current. For example the Omron G6K series 5V model uses 21.1mA.
Would these ICs be able to handle this. Would the back EMF caused by the relay coil be enough to damage the IC, even with such a small relay? It would be great if we could use it without adding extra back EMF diodes on every relay...
I know there are more "official" ways of driving relays, such as the ULN2003 series... but with these small relays, we were hoping to reduce the BOM count.
