LM4132 - very noisy output

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM4132, ALLIGATOR

Hi,

I'm currently trying to design the passives around an LM4132 2048mV ref, so far I have:
3v input (coincell 2032)
10uF + 100nF on input
100nF on output
Loaded with a 2Kohm resistor

All the components are kept as close to device as possible including the power in.
The output noise passes the 3mVpp on the scope. Scope probe input noise is about 300uV base when in-gnd short.

Is there any advice I could be given in order to bring this down to below 1 mV at least?
Thank you in advance, looking forward for your help and suggestions.

  • Hi Ricardo,

What type of capacitors are you using? Ceramic low ESR capacitors are recommended. Also, you will need to be careful with the scope probe. You will likely not be able to use the typical looped alligator clip for ground, but have to use the ground spring clip or something similar to keep the ground path as short as possible.
