BQ24610: BQ24610 QUESTIONS relate to Dmax

Part Number: BQ24610

Hi team,

When my customer is using BQ24610, the input adapter is 24v, the Vbat setting is 7.4v(two series battery), we can get the PACK+ has current, But when we set the Vbat to 23v, (5 series battery equal to 21.8v)we cannot detect the PACK+ current.

we test the status 0 and status1 are high logic.

VCC is 24v, HDRV keep 22v, LORV keep 0v. REGN=6V.

So i guess it has connection with the Dmax of the BQ24610. Do you have some suggestions?

Thanks.

BR

Frank

  • Hi Frank,

For the maximum duty, bq24610 deadtime is 30ns and frequency is 600kHz. We can calculate Dmax is 96.4% and required duty cycle is 95.8% when Vbat is 23V. But we only consider deadtime and frequency, we don't consider the delay for the IC and MOSFET. It may be lower than 95.8% in your circuit. So we usually don't use 24V input power to charge 23V battery.
If your customer need to use 23V battery, please give your system higher input voltage.

    Thanks,
    Ann Lien
