TPS54060: and external catch diode between the PH pin and GND

Hello!

What function does the catch diode perfom in the schematic between the PH pin and GND? Can I not use this diode in the schematic? What consequences can there be if I do not use this diode in the schematic with TPS54060-EP?

    Sergey,

    The Catch Diode (or Freewheeling Diode) is necessary to the circuit.  It will not work without it.  This converter is not a synchronous buck converter so it requires the diode to supply current in the off time of the switching period.
