TLV1117: TLV1117 evaluation for adjustable variant LDO

Part Number: TLV1117
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: , TLV117125EVM-097, LM317A-337N-EVM, LM317A

Hi,

i'm looking into evaluation of adjustable variant of TLV1117 but there seems to be fixed voltage EVMs available, TLV1117LV33EVM-714 & TLV117125EVM-097. Which EVM is recommended to have the adjustable variant TLV1117 replaced onto EVM to kickstart the evaluation? i'm looking to simulate a 8V/300mA output from a 12V input source. Please advise. Thanks.

Regards,

Leo

  • Hi Leo,

The best EVM to use to kickstart an evaluation on the adjustable version of TLV1117 is LM317A-337N-EVM. The boards you mention can be modified to work with an adjustable device; however, LM317A-337N-EVM is already has pads for the adjustable regulator.

    Very Respectfully,
    Ryan
  • Hi Ryan,
this means that both TLV1117 & LM317A shares the similar architecture in terms of functionality as an adjustable regulator? The board modification might come later then once decision has been made to kickstart a concept build. Thanks.

    Leo
  • Hi Leo,

Both the TLV1117 and LM317A are linear regulators with the same package and pinout as such the EVM for the LM317A can be used in evaluating the adjustable TLV1117. You will still need to replace the IC in order to evaluate the performance of the TLV1117 family.

    Very Respectfully,
    Ryan
