Hi,
When an LDO is operating in dropout, the internal control loop drives the pass element into the triode region, forcing the pass element to behave like a resistor. As such, the typical and maximum on-resistance of the pass element can be calculated from the dropout specification in the datasheet by using Ohm's Law:
Rds,on (typ) = Vdo (typ) / Iout = 50 mV / 100 mA = 0.5 Ohms
Rds,on (max) = Vdo (max) / Iout = 250 mV / 250 mA = 1 Ohm
Thanks,
Gerard
