LM4040-N-Q1: AEC Qualified?

Hello - My understanding of the datasheet for the LM4040 is that the AEC qualified parts are LM4040Q+suffix.  This seems to line up with the TI website which claims that the LM4040 is auto qualified for 2.5V and 3V parts.  Can I assume all Q+suffix LM4040 devices are AEC qualified?  Thank you.

    Your understanding of the nomenclature is correct. Devices marked LM4040Q are automotive qualified parts. These are parts we carried over from National and are thus marked -N/-Q1 and follow different naming for parts. That being said, while most of our devices are AEC-Q100 Grade 1 qualified (-40 to 125 C), some of these LM4040Q devices are Grade 3 (-40 to 85 C). If the device has a I in the nomenclature after the Q and the grade, eg. LM4040QAIM3-2.5/NOPB, it is Grade 3. If your customer needs Grade 1, make sure there is an E in that sport.

  • Thank you for the information.  I have been unable to find AEC qualified LM4040 parts on your website for SOT23 package type in 5V output.  Do part numbers exist for this or should I move to LM4050/TL4050 depending on my design requirements?

    You're correct, we do not have AEC qualified LM4040 devices for 5V output. You should look into the LM4050/TL4050 as you mentioned for these specific types of devices, or look at our Shunt Voltage References for more options.
