TPS2561: Non USB usage for powering remote devices with long cables

Part Number: TPS2561

Hello

I am working on a application where there is master slave architecture, the master devices and the slave devices are connect by a 50m long cable (2core power +2core signals). The master device provides power to the slave devices.  Each switch in the TPS2561 will be connected to a single slave.

1. Can the TPS2561 be used in such a application, to enable / disable power and also the limit power to the slave devices?

2. What kind of minimum protections are recommended in such a application to protect the TPS2561?

3. If the TPS2561 is not the right solution can you recommend any other option? (Electrical requirements are as those met by the TPS2561)

I need to make this a robust and high reliability solution as this will be safety critical in a industrial environment.

  • Hi Sir,

    50m cable?

Firstly, I think will be a big voltage drop.

Secondly, I think maybe have some ringing at input pin under some cases. So maybe need some OVP device.

Just some suggestions above for your reference.

For TI's policy, I will first click resolved button.

If you have any other concern, contact me any time.

If you think resolved, please help click 'Issue is solved button'.

    Thanks.
