TPS74401: pull-up resistor of PG pin question

Part Number: TPS74401

Hi team,

I see in datasheet, the pull-up resistor recommend from 10k~1MΩ,and customer now use a 4.7kΩ pull-up resistor and connect to 1.1V.

Will this bring any problems? Is the 4.7kresistor OK for application?

  • Hello,

Is there a reason the customer is not using at least 10k?

The concern is limiting the amount of sinking current into PG. The abs max I_PG is 1.5mA. So, when PG is in a low impedance state, let's say zero impedance for a worst-case scenario, the max sinking current is 1.1V/4.7k = 234uA. So it should be fine with the 4.7k, although I would still officially recommend to follow the datasheet to ensure proper operation.

I also see that there was an attachment that did not properly attach. Copy-pasting images does not work on E2E; you must save the image on your machine and then insert it using the "Insert/Edit Media" button.

    Best regards,

    Nick
