BQ34Z100EVM: BQ34Z100EVM calibration

Part Number: BQ34Z100EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ34Z100, BQSTUDIO, GPCCHEM, GPCCEDV, BQ27426

Dear TI technical support,

I have set up BQ34Z100 EMV with my battery pack. However, as I check on bqStudio, the SOC and capacity parameters seem to be not correct compare to battery specifications.

Could you help me to verify this error or the next step after I successfully set up? I think this might because I have not calibrated to chemical ID match.

Thank you,

Cuong Dao

  • Hi Cuong,

You will need to find and program a chemID that matches the cells. Refer to our GPCCHEM tool.

    Best,

  • Thank you, Nick.

I quite confusing when doing CHEMID and GPCCEDV process. Could you help me to verify my case?

My battery pack is Lithium chemistry, 8 cells, 2.5Ah. However, the Bqstudio SOC parameter is the incorrect capacity (989 Ah at 100 % SOC), so I have questions:

#1, what I need to configure on BqStudio before doing ChemID process.

#2, Are the CHEMID and GPCCEDV have the same process to measure time, voltage, current, and temperature.

#3, If 2 processes are separated if I just need relatively correct results which process are the most important. As my thought, CHEMID is the most important because GPCCEDV is just to make higher accuracy for fuel gauge, is that correct?

Thank you very much and have a good day.

    Bests,

    Cuong Dao

  • Hello Cuong,

The GPCCEDV tool is used by our gauges that run the CEDV algorithm. The bq34z100 uses our Impedance Track algorithm which is different than the CEDV.

The GPCCHEM tool is what you should use to find the correct chemistry ID to program in your gauge. After you submit your relax-discharge-relax log and receive the GPCCHEM report you can program the gauge from the chemistry tab in bqStudio and start the learning cycle.

You can follow a lot of the same steps outlined in SLUA903: e2echina.ti.com/.../0827.7367.Achieving-the-Successful-Learning-Cycle.pdf

    Wyatt Keller

I don't find 2725 in BqStudio Chemistry.  Could you help me to verify this case?

    Thank you very much,

  • Hi Cuong,

Can you try updating the chemistries and see if it is there:

    Best,
