TPS65910: AM3352 PMIC(TPS65910Ax) Configurations

Part Number: TPS65910
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM3352

Hi Expert,

1.

PWRHOLD pin pull high can enable power output?

2.

Do you have any suggestions for PWRON pin design? I want to power on AM3352 without power button?

The key point is to set  BOOT1 = 1b , BOOT0 = 0b?

2.1

add RC to delay for L->H signal?

2.2

floating

Thanks

Daniel

  • Hi, Daniel,

      Please see my answers below:

      1. Yes, PWRHOLD pin pull high can enable power output.
      2. BOOT1 = 1b , BOOT0 = 0b is for EEPROM sequence selection.
      3. PWRON pin can be floating since it has internal pull-up.

  • Daniel,

Based on the TPS65910Ax User's Guide for AM335x Processors, if you simply pull-up PWRHOLD to VCC7, the PMIC will turn on immediately without waiting for a push-button press.

Looking at the datasheet may confuse you more than necessary. The EEPROM programming in the TPS65910Ax device is specific to the AM335x requirements and does not require a push-button press to start the power-up sequence. For the first power-up event, I have tested this on the EVM and it does not require a push-button press. The PWRHOLD signal is controlled manually on the EVM, so this is why I said it would be best to pull it up to VCC7 through a Pull-up resistor.
