BQSTUDIO: Error while using Battery Management Studio

Part Number: BQSTUDIO

Hi Team,

A customer is using Battery Management Studio version 1.3.100. When he tried to program a gas gauge on his battery, he's getting a red "X" instead of a green checkmark but the error window doesn't show anything. Is there a way to know what failed specifically or what it means? Please refer to the screenshot below.

 Regards,

Danilo

  • Hello Danilo,

Which gauge is this for? I would try updating bqStudio to the test version to see if the issue still occurs. Usually the error message is displayed at the bottom of bqStudio explaining the issue.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller

  • Hi Wyatt,

The part number is BQ34Z100PWR-G1. According to the customer, the issue happens intermittently. Interestingly, even though the "red X" may appear when attempting to program, any attempts to read the part through other means indicates that everything is programmed as expected.

Instead of attempting to reproduce the issue, the customer wants to get more general information on what a "red x" means - what are the kinds of failures that can cause this to appear instead of a green checkmark indicating that programming was successful? When the customer checked the Errors tab, there is no error message.

    Regards,

    Danilo

  • Hello Danilo,

Let me check with someone that has more experience with the bqStudio platform, if there's no errors and the DF updates successfully, there may just be a mistake in the graphics displayed.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller

  • Hello Danilo,

The error is probably due to noise on the lines. Likely returned error when sending execute command. Try to reprogram when the X is shown.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller

  • Thank you for the suggestion - we will attempt this and get back to you!

  • Greetings,

Our primary resource for performing this test was unavailable but is back this week. I'm hoping to test this out for you in the next 1-2 weeks and will let you know what we discover.

    Thanks for your patience!
