TPS65910: PMIC for i.MX53

Part Number: TPS65910

Hi colleagues,

The PMIC which our customer is currently using for all i.MX53 boards (Dialog DA9053) is facing EOL.
They saw that there are 2+ NXP alternatives but it seems no one can support conversion starting from 5V.
So NXP PMIC need a pre-regulator, at about 3.8V.
It is quiet annoying to the customer to use 2 components instead of one.

They had a quick look into the components and would like to ask a few things:

  • TPS659106 is pre-programmed for i.MX53 but needs an external dc-dc converter for DDR3L memories and CPU, is that correct?

For this product they use either WEC7 or Yocto Linux.

  • Does this PMICs have both OS drivers?

Best regards,
Candas

What you are reading in the TPS659106 User's Guide for i.MX53 Processor is the only information that I have available on this design.

The DDR (DRAM in NXP terminology) would need to be external DC-DC, as you said: "NVCC_EMI_DRAM of the processor is assumed to be from a discrete buck converter. VDIG1 can be used as an enable signal for the buck."

I cannot find CPU in the document and I do not know the NXP pin name for CPU power in i.MX53 but it appears to me that VCC is the CPU power supply from the i.MX53 datasheet and VCC is supplied by VDD1 of the TPS659106.

TPS65910SW-LINUX driver is available in mainline Linux and can be pulled into a Yocto build, no problem.
