TPS1H100-Q1: current limit questions

Part Number: TPS1H100-Q1

Dear team,

Our device has two kinds of current limit, internal current limit and external adjustable current limit. I have some questions for these two current limit.

The max current limit is 1A regardless of internal current limit or external current limit, right?

The difference between these two current limits is the behavior after current limit. Except this, is there any other difference?

Thanks & Best Regards,

Sherry

  • Sherry,

The adjustable current limit for the device is set via the external resistor. This can be in a range of 500mA to  7A. The internal current limit is the higher current limit that takes affect if there is no external resistor connected to ILIM or if it is out of range. The internal current limit is higher than anything that can be set by the external current limit and can range from 7A to 13A (see Ilim, nom in the datasheet).

Please read 7.3.2 Programmable Current Limit in the datasheet for a more comprehensive explanation.

    Best Regards,
