BQ76952: BQ76952 reg1 is not able to drive MCU

Part Number: BQ76952

Hi,

I am using BQ76952 for 4 Cells. As datasheet allows 3-16 cells can be used. But in the case of 4 cells i am not able to drive my MCU using REG1 supply.

Could any one explain why it is happening?

Why BQ76952 IC is not able to drive MCU in this case?

  • Hi Dileep,

I suggest reviewing Section 12.3.1 of the datasheet. Figure 7-27 shows the REGIN voltage vs. the BAT pin voltage. I suspect the voltage on REGIN is too low. What is the voltage on the BAT pin? Measure the voltage at the top and bottom of the resistor in series with the BJT. You may need to lower the resistor value when using a low number of cells. The voltage drop also depends on the supply current of the MCU.

    Best regards,

    Matt
