[FAQ] LM5176: just work as buck controller

Part Number: LM5176
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5146, , LM5175

Hi team,

Since of LM5146 out of stock, I have several questions about LM5176:

  • Can LM5176 work as buck controllers? Just use two Mos?
  • Is LM5176 have any EMC improvement compared with LM5175?

Many thanks for your help!

  • Hello Jiawei,

We do not recommend using LM5176 with only 2 MOSFETs as we sense several signals as well on the boost side.

In general EMC reduction can be achieved by using e.g. the dithering function, gate resistors, or snubbers. As far as I know, the behavior is similar to LM5175, but I did not directly compare the 2 boards in an EMC chamber.

    Best regards,
    Brigitte
