Hello,
I would like to know what function this circuit which is composed of an N channel FET performs. My first guess was some kind of gate protection on the discharge FET. But wouldn't the Zener (D5) be sufficient for this?
Cheers,
Keshav

Hi Keshav,
This circuit is for protection in the event the charge is connected backwards. The circuit is described in Section 2 of the Multiple FETs application report: https://www.ti.com/lit/an/sluaa09/sluaa09.pdf
