TPS61023: Inquiry about current consumption and switching frequency

Part Number: TPS61023

Hi, Support Team

A customer wants to use the TPS61023, but the following inquiries have been received.

-Inquiry about current consumption and switching frequency in each mode

PWM Mode (enable)

-Power consumption:??

-Switching frequency: 1MHz

PWM Mode (disable)

- Power Consumption:??

- Switching frequency: 1MHz??

PFM Mode (enable)

- Power Consumption:??

- Switching frequency: ??

PFM Mode (disable)

- Power Consumption: ??

- Switching frequency: ??

Please answer the question mark.

Thanks.

Regards,

MJ

  • Hello MJ,

    Thank you for reaching out.

The power consumption varies with different Vin, Vout, Iout conditions so we can't tell you the result.

The switching frequency at PWM mode is 1MHz typically and changes with different load current. We can't tell you the exact value either.

  • Hi, Zack

What is the frequency in PFM mode?

It is stated that the frequency in PWM mode is changed from 1MHz to 0.5MHz depending on the level of the input voltage.

However, the frequency in PFM mode is not described.

Is there a reason not listed?

Is the description of Iq on the datasheet in the PWM mode?

Is the information on Iq stated in the datasheet the current consumed during operation regardless of the mode?

    Thanks.

    Regards,

    MJ

  • Hi MJ,

The PFM mode switching frequency changes automatically with different VIN, VOUT, Iout conditions. There is no special equation to calculate the frequency.

Iq is the quiescent current consumed during internal circuit operation regardless of the mode.
