BQ2060: SOC drop to 3% after removing the charger

Hi everyone,

I'm currently working on the BQ2060 and I encoutered few issues.

I have a 3S1P Li-ion 3500mAh pack, after configuring the EEPROM I tried to charge the battery to check the SoC. At the end of the charge, when I shut down the charger and the current down to 0A, the SoC always drop to the same value : 3%. The max error is 100% so it is surely linked.

Hello Marius,

You will need to complete a learning cycle to get the MaxError reduced.

I would also recommend implementing one of the newer gauges for better accuracy, this is one of the oldest gauges we have available.

I don't understand the process of a qualified discharge, how does the battery can reach the EDV2 treshold during discharge if EDV2 is the highest voltage treshold ?

Sry I was wrong about the EDV2 value, I switch with VOC75%. But I still don't find how to have a good EDV2 value ?

Hello Marius,

The EDV2 value is configurable, the default is usually around 7% SOC.

Hello Wyatt,

The EDV2 issue is resolved. The soc is good even when I remove the charger and the pack works well. But I still have a max error of 100% in few of my batteries, can it be a problem ?

Hello Marius,

Good I'm glad you got the issue resolved. The MaxError represents the learning cycle status, I would get MaxError reset to 1% to complete the characterization.
