BQ 24075 Thermal loop not working

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24075, BQ24075T

I am using BQ24075 IC for battery management and i am facing issue that the battery is not charging but the charging status led glows when i examined the datasheet i found it glows when not charge and it is in thermal suspend mode.

I am not using the NTC instead i connected 10k res with TS and GND terminal and the TS pin is at zero voltage ik think the current is not being sourced by the ic

wt could be the solution?

my EN Setup is EN1=0,EN2=1;

Kindly help me ot of this.

  • The TS pin must be within the allowed voltage range per the electrical spec table [V(TS-xx)] in order for charging to start.  Thermal suspend mode means the IC itself is hot and has stopped charge to reduce the internal die temperature.

    Are you able to measure the charging current, input current and/or OUT current?  Is the IC hot?

  • I am not able to measure the exact current but the battery voltage remains same even after powered for 1 hr.

    I agree that the thermal suspend mode when IC gets hot, but the TS pin should soruce a valid current to get a voltage in TS pin which is not happening and it may be going to thermal battery pack temperature which i was to mean in the earlier post.

    Tell me the conditions when the TS pin wont source the current.?

  • Hello Suman,

    In the USB suspend mode the TS pin won't source the current.

    Can you please double check if your IC is bq24075 or bq24075T? Bq24075T will also need an external pull up resistor on TS pin to provide the voltage.

    Thanks,

    Wenjia
