Charge 2 cells with BQ2057C

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ2057C, BQ2057W

Hi,

I have several battery chargers built around the BQ2057C. These were used to charge a one-cell battery. We now have 2-cells battery (in series) and the next charger production will use the BQ2057W, but I need to find a way to use the existing chargers with the new battery pack.

One solution would be to replace the BQ2057C for a BQ2057W on each charger, but I also see that making a tension divider on the BAT pin would let the IC charge to 8.4V. The footprint for the 2 resistors on the BAT signal (sic) is already present in the design. Is there any problem that could arise from such modification?

Thanks

Olivier
