bq24250 precharge safety timer

Hello,

I can't found the parameter of precharge timer in bq24250 datasheet, does it separation timer or including in fast charge safety timer?

    Hello Yang Ken,

    Are you looking for a safety time parameter for precharge? Or are you looking for how long it takes precharge to complete?

    If you are looking for how long precharge takes to complete, it is based on your programmed Fast Charge current (I_CHG) and your battery. 

    The pre-charge deglitch time just indicates how long the VBAT must be greater than VLOW (VBAT > VLOW) to transition to Fast Charge. 

    Figure 17 gives an estimate of that time based on a particular battery capacity. 

    For safety timing, the precharge is included in the Safety timing that begins as soon as charging begins. 

    Please note, however, that the safety timer is extended to twice as long if the device does not transition out of Precharge mode.

    Hi Joel,

    Thank you for detail description the answer, my question is the precharge timer wether inculded in the Safety timing.

    One more question, our customer tested the Safety timer in default mode(without I2C host control), the result is around 9 hours. Is it correct?

    As I know, the default Safety timer should be 6 hours.

    Hey Ken,

    Your customer is correct. Our datasheet shows the incorrect default value. The safety timer default is 9 hours, not the specified 6 hours.

    We will update this information on the next release of the datasheet.
