I've loaded the 3102 Chem ID into the bq27531 via GaugeStudio, however I do not agree with some of the parameters in the Data Memory window. Most importantly, Charging Voltage (4.2V) and Design Capacity(2450mAh).

The LG cell that matches ChemID 3102 is only 2100mAh on a good day, and should float at 4.35V.

Which parameters in the Data Memory window will change upon loading a new ChemID? Meaning, how much does the user need to enter from the cell datasheet?

Parameters such as Charging Voltage and Design Capacity are not updated with the chem ID, since they can change based on number of parallel or series (for multicell gauges ) cells. The chem ID is compute on one cell. To update the parameters, you should download bqConfig and install it. It is a separate tool that will walk you through the configuration process, including calibration, programming chem ID, learning cycle, etc.

I am getting the message "Root element is missing" when I plug in the bq27531 EVM with EV2400, and "Unexpected packet from EV2300" with the EV2300.

I am using the Win8 x64. Still able to communicate with the EVM via GaugeStudio.

Please suggest an alternative, and confirm that bqConfig will work with the bq27531 gauge. Thanks!

There appears to be an issue with bqConfig version 1.5.2 and this particular device. Please try the attached installer. We're working on getting the latest version on the web.

I wasted some hours on this exact problem yesterday. The previous entry suggested that TI were "working to get the latest version on the web". Well I suggest that as the previous entry is some 6 months old, that they work a bit harder !! TI need to recognize that this type of thing causes immense frustration.
