bq40z50: FD, FC, TD, TC voltage thresholds

How do I go about determining the 8 voltage thresholds for FD, FC, TD, and TC?

Thanks.

Tom

  • We normally set the [FD] threshold to the Termination Voltage and set the [TDA] slightly earlier as a warning. We normally set the [FC] set threshold to set at charge termination and the [TCA] slightly earlier as a warning. We normally set the recovery thresholds for about 100mV of hysteresis. These parameters may need to be adjusted depending on how cell voltages react after the load of charger have been removed. It is difficult to provide an absolute set of guidelines for setting these thresholds.
  • That helps. I see that either voltage or RSOC % thresholds can be used. Would I be better off using RSOC instead?

Are there situations where both voltage and RSOC are used together?

    Thanks.
  • I normally use SOC, because this is the parameter that most people are interested in seeing when gauging. I have seen users enable more than one option for the set and clear features, but this is not typical.
