Please try the attached EVSW.  The V1.05 EVSW was just approved by our quality team, so it still in the process of being added to the web.  It should  be up there soon, though.

What driver do I need for the bq20z45r1 software to work on Win7?

The driver that work for windows vista is attached with this post. There are success stories of using this on Windows 7. This is the closest that we can get for now.

Only gives this error "Error E0000235 in UpdateDriverForPlugAndPlayDevices".

I assume you unzip and rename the ._exe_ to a .exe, no?
Any other special steps required, because even this doesn't work successfully.

The word from the software engineer is that sometimes it throws an installation error, but communication should work. Did you try proceed and talk to the target board?

In a bqEVSW popup, it says: " The EV2300 connection could not be Initiated! Please close this program and try again."
Then, another popup comes and goes too fast to read,
then a third bqEVSW popup says: "No USB board was detected! Please close this application first! Then make sure that the EV2300 is connected and then restart this program!"

I can't get past this point. I sniff the SMBus but no communication happens on the bus, even if I manually try to reefresh.
In the lower right corner of the tool, it says "No USB: VB_NO_USB" and device manager thinks it is an unknown USB device and says no driver loaded.

Did you try uninstall any EV2300 driver first?

If that didn't help, the last thing I can help is to send this HID driver.

Ho w can I uninstall a EV2300 driver when it never installed in the first place? Do you mean something else?

Go to device manager while EV2300 is connected, look under the USB group to see if there's any TIbq80xx driver. I think you can right click it and find out option for uninstall.

And, Rename the folder below if exists:

C:\WINDOWS\TI

If you don't see the folder then there was no driver installed previously.

There was no TIbq80xx driver listed in device manager, but it shows up under "Other devices->Unknown device".
I did have a folder "C:\WINDOWS\TI" which I renamed, but I still cannot install the driver.

I was getting the same problem "Error E0000235 in UpdateDriverForPlugAndPlayDevices" trying to install the drivers on my windows 7 x64 computer.

Tried installing in on my win7 x32 bit laptop and worked fine. :D

Perhaps it only works with 32bit windows operating systems.....?

I have had the same issue, I have a laptop with 32 bit Win7, and the same exact laptop with a 64 bit copy.  The 64 bit copy gets the E0000235 error when I try to install the drivers.  Is TI going to come out with a version that works with Win 7 64 bit?

I'm using Win 7 32bit, and I had the same problem.  It would not recognize my battery,  I had to reinstall the software.  It would also refuse to recognize the battery when I unplugged the battery balancing leads from the bq20z45-r1 eval board.
