BQ78350-R1 Calibration problems

I just updated our BMS design to use the new BQ78350-R1 and I am running into calibration problems that I had not experienced when using the previous version of the IC. I am calibrating using the tools available in BQ studio and the error I receive when I attempt calibration of any parameter is as follows: Raw calibration block size returned after command 0xF081 or 0XF082 in an incorrect length.

I have updated my version of BQ studio to 1.3.45 and I have also installed the correct version of firmware into the BQ78350-R1. I did not have problems calibrating before I moved to the updated IC and am curious if the process is different or if I am just missing something obvious.

Try using this .bqz file. It should fix the calibration problem.

Thanks Tom,
Well I guess my inexperience is going to shine through on this next comment. I don't fully understand what the bqz file is and how to load it. I'm sure this is a basic operation but it is one I have not had to do yet. Is this procedure listed in any of the available products documents?

You can replace the .bqz file in the BatteryManagementStudio\config directory and then reopen bqStudio.

Hey Tom,

I'm having similar issues, but the above linked bqz file didn't fix my issues.

I am currently using bqStudio version 1.3.45, and I have updated the firmware on the BQ78350 to bq78350_R1_v1_03_build_22.srec. Please note that my part is from the BQ76940EVM, so I don't think it has been updated to the BQ78350-R1 part. Is my firmware the issue?

I tried downloading the above linked bqz file, and putting it into the /config folder (removing the leading numbers from the file name.)

However, when I go to calibrate, I still receive the 'Raw cailbration block size returned after command 0xF081or 0xF082 is an incorrect length.

The bqz file is probably causing your problem. I would make sure to use bqStudio v1.3.45 and replace the .bqz with the one that I attached earlier.
