How can I check a BQ34Z100-G1 gloden file is corrupt?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO, BQ34Z100-G1, BQ34Z100

I have finished calibrate, ChemID and learning cycle. When I generate golden file, bqStudio display "No acknowledge form device" many times. But finally it generate the serc file and show "Golden image files were created successfully".

Then I change a new board and programming the serc file to new chip (the same chip-BQ34Z100-G1).

When programming is done, I lose communication with board. I can't recover original serc file at all!

How can I check my golden file is right? I don't want to damage another chip.

I attach the generate screen, the data flash gg file and the serc file below.

The tool I used is bqStudio V1.3.52 and EV2300 V3.1C.

And another question, do I need change update status to 02 from 06? and do I need change cycle count to 0?

  • Snow,

Please do not try programming additional devices at this time and we are looking into the issue. I programmed your gg file into a device and exported an srec. I then exported an srec and compared it to your "final" srec. They were different and several areas of the instruction flash are corrupted in your file. Let me ask a few questions to try to determine what is different between our setups.

    1. Are you using the TI EVM? if you are, then when did you buy it?
    2. Did you run the bqStudio setup program in "Run as Administrator" mode?
    3. Did you use "Run as Administrator" mode when invoking bqStudio?
    4. The screen shot looks like you are running Windows 7. Is this correct?
    5. Have you received any error messages other than the No Acknowledge form device message?

    Regards
    Tom

  • 1.I have a TI EVM, and I buy it at about two month ago. And I export .gg and generate serc file on my application board but not EVM board. I just use EVM board to learn how to use a BQ34Z100-g1.
2.I usually double the bqStudio icon to startup software.
3.What is difference between "as adminstrator" or not?
4.Yes, I am running Windows7 Enterprise Service Pack1 64bit Operating system. Is that problem with 64bit?
5.Maybe I have other error message, the hint fresh quickly so I can't confirm that.

    Cheers

  • 2. I was referring to when you run the bqStudio setup program that was downloaded from the TI website. If you "right click" the setup icon, then you can select "Run as Administrator" mode to run the setup program? The program may not run properly unless you use this option.

    3. I was referring to when you start the bqStudio program after it has been installed on your computer. You also need to "right click" the icon and use "Run as Administrator" mode to run the program. You can edit the shortcut and select to run the program in this mode all of the rime, if you do not want to "right click" the icon each time.

I am not sure that this is your problem, but we have not been able to reproduce it here and we are trying to determine what may be different between our setups.

  • Hi, Thomas

I have uninstall the bqstudio and then re-setup it.

Now I follow your advise re-setup the bqstudio use "administrator mode". The setup sequence pic in attach below.

I re-export the data flash gg file and re-generate serc file and attach below. The ChemID I calculate as 1297.

Can you check the serc file again?

Does it will help you analyse the problem?

comment: I change the update status from 06 to 02, and cycle count from 82 to 1 at this time.

    The step as follow:

    1. setup "BatteryManagementStudio-1.3.52_Build1-windows-installer" use administrator mode.

    2.setup "bq34z100G1FirmwareBundle-0.16-windows-installer" and I can get a "bq34z100_G1_v0_16_build_17.serc" file as default serc.

3.setup "EV2300a_Device_Driver_Installer_Multilanguage_0.6" and then plug the usb cable to setup the usb driver.

    4.run bqstudio using administrator mode.

5.export data flash named as "DataFlash_0912_Resetup.gg.csv"

6.generate golden file named as "0100_0_16-bq34z100G1_0912_Resetup.serc". Now I can confirm there are more than one error when generate golden file. But the hint fresh quickly and I can't find them on error log.

    Kind regards

    Xue

  • Snow,
That srec file is corrupted as well. I think that we have found the problem. You are using an EV2300 with firmware revision v3.1c. I found that this firmware version will cause the srec to get corrupted and I verified it on my bench. If you have another EV2300, then you can update the firmware using this updater. Do you have a second EV2300 to use?
