EV2300: Updating firmware: BQ80xrw.ocx missing or invalid.

Part Number: EV2300

Hello,

I have a EV2300 and was using it with Battery Management Studio. Somehow, the EV2300 stopped responding and not being recognised by Windows. Other forum posts eluded that to upgrade (and de-brick) an EV2300, you need two of them, so I purchased a second.

I have tried two different apparent updaters, but each to no avail.

The first as here:

This program fails to run with the error "Component 'TABCTL32.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid." I do not seem to have this file on my PC and therefore cannot re-register this to the register. It seems this is a system file and out of TI's control. I don't know why this is not present.

I also found this: https://e2e.ti.com/support/power_management/battery_management/f/180/p/556785/2038083#2038083

This starts up to a basic GUI, but upon pressing "Next" I get the following error: "Run-time error '339': Component 'bq80xrw.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid."

I have reinstalled all the software I have put on, reinstalled the drivers, but to no avail.

I am running Win 7 64 bit. The drivers I have are the 64 Bit EV2300 drivers. These install with no error and my working EV2300 functions. I also see the read errors that are discussed in the above link, so upgrading the firmware is much desired.

How can I fix either of the above? Am I missing a certain driver / bit of software? Is there any other way to upgrade the firmare (i.e. by microcontroller)?

Thanks in advance,

Henry
