BQ34110EVM-796: how to create log files for bq34110

Part Number: BQ34110EVM-796
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ34110, BQSTUDIO

Hi,

I am  working with bq34110 for NiMh multi cell battery,  I am using ev2300. I  successful calibrated the voltage current and temperature using bqstudio.

I am trying to create  the log files required. I am trying to  create the log files using the bqstudio.

I clicked into the gpc cycle automated mode

They ask to enter the termination voltage EDVo

Then I can  see six different flow diagrams

for eg

low temperature low rate

start- charge-relax-discharge-end

I have fully charged my battery then

I have connected the battery in bat+ and bat- of my board

connected the load in bat+ and pack-

I am a  bit not sure about the next step...

start_charge ..am I supposed to do this while charging the battery..

or am i supposed to do this with a fully charged battery.

If I can get some guidance with the set up to create log file it will be very helpful.

  • Hi Jofonia,
Pls refer to the user guide for the EVM. www.ti.com/.../sluubi1

When you start bqstudio, there is a start log button. You need to carry out your discharge using your electronic load and charge using your power supply or a charger.
    thanks

  • Hi Onyx,

I have gone through the TI documents as advised by you.

I have created the first log files at room temperature, my battery is  NiMH battery with  10 cells total capacity is 14.5 Ah.

I am attaching the log files to make sure I am in the right direction please correct me if I am wrong.

Just wanted to confirm the steps after creating the log files, I have gone through the manual just wanted to make sure I have understand it right.

    1. Create 6 log files.

    2. Submit it to the GPC calculator to get the CEDV coeffiecients roomtemp_highrate.log.

    3. The CEDV coefficients are updated in the data memory in the bqstudio.

    4. Then go to the programming screen in the bqstudio and select the bq34119 firmware bundle-002-windows program it followed by executing FW.

    5. I am not quiet sure where the read srec button is after doing Execute FW.

6.I am not sure about the advanced communication link

    7. I go to the golden image window  and export the firmware as an srec,bq.fs and .df.fs to the output files created  in the bqstudio directory

  • 8321.qdscg.zipHi Onyx,

    Thank you for replying.

I have done a qualifying discharge based on what Bryan advised me.

I can send you my gg files and log files for qualifying discharge.  Could you please let me know if I  the behaviour in log file for qualifying discharge and gg files correct.

If yes then am I ready to program the fuel gauge memory.

Just wanted to check if the steps mentioned in my previous query correct?

    Regards,
