BQ34110: Cycle count does not increment after qualified discharge

Part Number: BQ34110
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO

Hi - I am not able to get the Cyclecount() report to increment after spending a week in configuration tweaking & charge/discharge cycles.

I know you'll need data, so what data will I need to provide in order for you to help me assess this? (image srec, charge/discharge logs, etc)

thanks, -pete u.

  • We need gg file and log file.

  • Looking over sluubc9.pdf, this is going to take about 3 days to put together, I will post when ready.
    thanks, -pete u.
  • Hi Peter,
That app note isn't exactly relevant for what you are trying to do to get Cyclecount( ) to increment. It's used for gathering data to be used by the GPCRA tool in calculating optimized Qmax and Ra values if you know your chemID already.
To try to understand why your Cyclecount isn't incrementing you can just log the gauge Registers using bqStudio while cycling the battery, and send us the log as well as the .gg.csv file exported from the Data Memory tab in bqStudio so we can see your configuration.
  • Hi dMax - I was in the process of collecting cycle logs to submit last week when I discovered my battery pack is not even up to spec (it tanks at about 1/2 voltage under 25% rated load). That could explain some of the problem, I just hadn't seen that because my cycle load was much lower.

I have ordered another pack from our vendor but I have not received it yet, which is why I've not responded back on this.
As soon as I get the new pack, I will post the logs.

    thanks, -pete u.
  • hi Peter,
Do you mind closing this ticket and creating a new one if you have an issue when you receive your new pack?

    Regards,
    David
