VOUT_MODE read error

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCD9244

Dear Ti

I use Fusion Digital Power Designer 2.0.40

I have a PCB with UCD9244 device on. The design has already been verified.

One board gives the following problem:

When I run the Fusion tool, it detects one device, but when the GUI tries to open, it gives the following error =>
Cannot read VOUT_MODE(see message at bottom).

When I run the I2C / SAA debug tool, I can read the VOUT_MODE as 0x14.

I tried to run the UCD Debug tool, but it requires a password.
Please provide me with the password.

Is there a way to enable the Fusion GUI in order to erase the UCD EEPROM ?

Please advise

Kind regards

Piet

There was an error bootstrapping the Fusion GUI for the UCD9244 @ Address 18d:

The following PMBus commands could not be read from the UCD9244 @ Address 18d:
VOUT_MODE
These commands are required for Fusion Digital Power Designer to run.

Please verify firmware and power and try again or contact customer support if you continue to have difficulties. at TIDP.PMBus.ad.a(PMBusDevice A_0, IEnumerable`1 A_1) at TIDP.WinForms.Apps.DPGUI.jl.oe() at TIDP.WinForms.Apps.DPGUI.jl.ok()

The Fusion GUI can not continue due to this error.

  • The password is "forestln". This password enable advanced feature in the GUI => Please use with caution. By "erase the UCD eeprom...", you mean erase the configuration data?
  • Thanks,
    Yes, erase configuration data
  • To erase the data flash, use the UCD3XXX/9XXX Device GUI tool to set the dFlash to either 0xFF or 0xAA.

    • Click on Start menu -> Texas Instruments Fusion Digital Power Designer -> Device GUIs-> UCD3XXX/9XXX Device GUI
    • Click on "Command Program to jump to ROM...". If success, the "Set DFlash to 0xFF" should be enable. Click on the "Set DFlash to 0xFF" should erase the data flash and set it to all 0xFF
    • NOTE: After erase the data flash, you must re-create the program flash checksum (checksum is erased when you send the device from Program Mode to ROM mode in the above step). To recreate the pflash checksum, use the "Checksums" tab, "Recreate" link. And then send device from ROM back to Program mode by click on the "Command ROM to execute its program..."
