LM431: LM431 partnumber

Part Number: LM431

i need a LM431 0,5% sot23 -40 to 85 but can not find it anywhere on the datasheet what the exact part number is.

is it a LM431A or LM431B etc according pag 5 table 6.5 ? also packaging information on addendum is not clear.

what do I need to complete the BOM

    Hi Leo,

    it should be the LM431CIM3/NOPB or LM431CIM3X/NOPB.

    Have a look at section 6.5 of datasheet and calculate the tolerance from the table. Then you will find that the LM431C is your candidate.

    Hi Leo,

    the LM431 family has accuracy and temperature in the naming codes but I agree that is not clear.
    Here is how to decode the accuracy and temperature:
    LM431XY where X is Initial Accuracy and Y is Operating Temperature Range
    X: A = 2%, B = 1%, C = 0.5%
    Y: I = -40C to 85C, C = 0C to 70C

    If you want 0.5% accuracy and -40C to 85C Operating temperature range. You would want the LM431CI where C is the 0.5% and B is the -40C to 85C. Any other code after that would be package, packaging, and quantity.


    An alternative device for this would be the TL431BI.
