TPS61165: Drive LED Strip

Just to confirm I need to know if the Texas Instruments TPS61165DBVR can drive an LED strip 400mm long containing 12 LED’s. See below for a link to the LED strip. Each group of 3 ED’s seems to be driven in parallel. Totalling 100mA at 12V. This seems to be within the 1.2A your chip can output. Can you confirm if this chip will drive the strip at 12 V?

I am driving the TPS61165DBVR from the 5V rail on the board, but I need it to output the 12V necessary to turn on the 12 LED’s

Hi Laura,
You mean your input=5V, Outpput=12V*100mA? If my understand is right, the internal current limit should be ok.

Is there a circuit configuration you could recommend that would drive the 12 led’s in that 400mm of lighting strip? Your application shows 3 led’s being driven. Likely the strip is arranged in 4 parallel groups, each with 3 leds in series, making a total of 12.
