LMG5200: LMG5200 LMG1210

Part Number: LMG5200
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMG1210

I am searching for a Gallium Nitride module similar to LMG5200 with 80V supply and 2MHz switching frequency that will include dead time control and delay matching for the PWM drive input. [Module without internal coil]   Similar to properties as LMG1210?

The application is a 1.00MHz drive of a sine wave through a filter/matching network

Any advice, proposal or intentions to introduce such a module in the near future?   with EVM?

  • Hello Avner,

Thanks for your inquiry. Unfortunately, currently LMG5200 is the only power stage that we have at 80V level. If you really would like to have the dead time control, I suggest that you use LMG1210 paired with EPC GaN FETs. LMG1210 is optimized for the layout with GaN FETs, so it could also give you very low parasitics and small form factor. Hope this helps!

    Thanks and regards,

  • Hello Lixing

Thank you for your advice to try the LMG1210 +X2 GaN FETs or the LMG5200.

I simulated X3 types of circuits, LMG1210, LMG5200 and the CSD97395 using Tina transient models.

I found that the minimum supply for the required output is 36VDC and 3-5 amper peak drive to drive the 1.00MHz sinewave load in my application.

To regulate the output level, we will need to control the supply Vcc with a wide range converter  [8-36VDC] or a multi-phase PWM controller to generate variable power,  phase array power drivers.

The selection of driver modules is quite wide and finding the optimum non-expensive solution is frustrating. So is the selection of EVMs for each solution.
