UC2854B: Control loop tuning, PFC, OUTER VOLTAGE LOOP, VOLTAGE DROP, PEAK CURRENT,

Part Number: UC2854B
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC28070A

Hi,

Can I also ask if the overshoot in the PFC output voltage after a peak current draw can be reduced by increasing the DC/Low frequency gain of the total compensated outer voltage loop.

regards,

pEETERSON.

  • Hi Peeterson,

You may be able to reduce slightly the overshoot by adjusting the compensation, but to provide good power factor the control loop will exhibit the type of overshoot that you observe.

Modern PFC controllers such as UCC28070A include features like non-linear error amplifiers and output over-voltage protection to limit overshoot.

If you can switch to one of these more modern controllers you will observe reduced output overshoot, with the same load stimulus.

    Thanks
