BUF20800: About the power supply for the serial interface

Hi,

I am considering using BUF20800 devices for liquid crystal circuits.
I will attach the circuit diagram I created.
First, as operation confirmation, it was confirmed whether communication of serial interface can operate normally.
With this content, I would like to ask a question.

Only VSD is applied as the power source for the serial interface.
In this case, it can not communicate.

Is it necessary to apply both VSD and VS power supply even when only communication by serial interface is operated?

    How do you determine that the I2C interface is not working when you have only VSD? And is there any particular reason for this check?
    When VSD only is applied, the communication does not work (the address is not acknowledged). To check functionality, please apply all supplies as shown in specification.
