Difference between LM3478 vs LM3481

Hello,

Currently I am searching for a PWM regulator for my DC/DC converter planned to implement with SEPIC topology.

My query is when using webbench it shows that LM3478 as "For Uncoupled Inductor SEPIC" and for LM3481 as "Low side switching regulator". I am able to understand this difference. Both the IC's seems same apart from voltgae level differece.

Please help.

Hi Anup,

LM3481 and LM3478 are similar devices and you can use both of them in your SEPIC application . The difference is : LM3481 supports Adjustable undervoltage lockout With Hysteresis .

My application is with below specification:

Vin: 40V to 100V

Vout: 72V

Fsw: 100 kHz

Power: 500W

For this spec I want to build a DC to DC converter. I will be using voltage divider for input and output voltage to keep the voltage in range for the IC. Is this a workable solution for this power range..?..

There is one more IC LM5118, I came across. So it also same like 3478/3481 or different..?

Please share your view.

Hi ,

For Such application i would recommend Full Bridge gate driver such as UCC28950.

Hi Satoshi ,

They both are pin to pin compatible similar part and the only difference is the fact that LM3488 allows for synchronization with external clock .
