TPS61096 shutdown current on PWR787 Evaluation Module

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS61096, TPS61096A

Hi,

I have a question regarding the TPS61096 shutdown current:

We are using the TPS61096-PWR787 Evaluation Module. R1 is changed to 100k to give an output voltage of 11V. In this test, VIN is connected to a 2.5V lab supply. No connections to J2, J4 and J5. ILIM is grounded.

When EN is connected to VIN, the ouput goes up to 11V and the supply current is about 5uA.

When we switch EN to GND, the current consumption goes up to 9uA instead of going below 0.1uA. We verified on the SW pin that the part stops switching (SW stays high at 2.4V). The output stays high at 11V (slowly decaying to about 2V when a scope probe is attached, and an expected 1uA rise to 10uA on the current consumption). (The current was measured with an Agilent 34410A. Alternatively, I measured the voltage across a 10k resistor between supply and test board, this gives a DC of 90mV)

If we start up the lab supply with EN connected to GND, the current consumption is below 0.01uA. But after operating, we cannot get the part to power down.

What's wrong?

best regards,

Johan
