TPS61073: soft-start current limit bypass or alternate part

Part Number: TPS61073
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS61240, TPS61252, TLV61220

My customer is using the TPS61073 to generate a 5V out from a 3.3V input.  They have some resistive loads on the output that are pulling over 140mA during startup, causing the part to never achieve regulation as the part get stuck in the soft-start switch current limit and only 3.2V out.  If the load is removed the device starts up just fine and then the load can be applied no issue, but they don't have the option to do this in their current system.

Is there a way to bypass the startup soft-start current or increase the amount (even by a small amount)?

OR

Is there a pin for pin alternate device with a higher soft-start current?

Thanks,

Dan

  • We can't increase this current? and the soft-start current may varied with different device.
    what about TPS61240 or TPS61252?
  • Hi Jasper,
We need a pin for pin replacement, if possible (or if we can't increase soft-start current capability).
I see the TLV61220 seems pin for pin, but lower SW current. It appears it may release full switch current at a lower output voltage (like 1.8V). What is the soft-start current limit for the TLV61220? Are there any other devices that may be pin for pin with a higher soft-start switch current?
    Thanks,
    Dan
