LM2734: Can we apply LM2734 to existing schematic?

Hi,

I recommend TI's LM2734YQMKE/NOPB to my customer who is using Microchip's MCP16301T-E/CH for their application.

Below is their schematic, and they cannot change anything around the device now.

Please let me know if we can replace MCP16301T-E/CH to LM2734YQMKE/NOPB.

Hi TS,

This schematic will work fine with the LM2734Y. One difference between this part and the MCP part I want to make sure the customer is aware of is the maximum input voltage. The LM2734Y is rated for 20-V max input while the MCP part is rated for 30-V max input.

Hi Anthony,

Customer would connect the Switching Regulator to 12V from the vehicle battery.

Whether there is a problem with reliability testing such as Load Dump,
Please compare with MCP product for protection part.

If only above is cleared, it seems to be available right away.

Hi TS,

I don't think I understand the question. The LM2734 can only support up to 20-V max input. If they need it to support a higher voltage during load dump, the LM2734 will not be a drop in replacement.
