TPS82130: TPS82130 issue

Dear Sir/Madam,

I encountered some issue on TPS82130SILR:
- I use that ic to convert 12V input voltage to 5V output voltage at 2A
- Two pcs on different boards was not able to power up properly, the output is always 0.8V
- Another two boards was initially functional, i.e. has 5V output, however, after a certain time, suddenly the voltage output become 0.8V, and it was not able to recover back to 5V output.
- Below is my design:

Simulation using Webench at steady state show the output is stable at 5Vdc.

Any advice?

Hi kpk,

Yes, your schematic looks fine. Since 0.8V is the level of the FB pin voltage, it is possible that R100 is shorting/failing.

Can you replace R100 and R101 on both boards and see if there is any impact?

Is the TPS82130 hot to the touch when it is outputting 0.8V? If so, can you remove any load and see if the voltage recovers?

Hi Chris,

Yes, after replaced R100 and R101, the IC is working now. I was not able to find another board to verify, will need to monitor when we receive another batch of prototype boards to test.
