LMZ20502: LMZ20502 VS TPS82084

Part Number: LMZ20502
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS82084

Dears,

I am now trying to select a power module. I find both LMZ20502 VS TPS82084 are suitable to my case.

They have similar function. Could you please tell the different between each others?

Many thanks.

  • Hi Zhengqing Wang,

I've attached a side-by-side comparison between the LMZ20502 and TPS82084. These information can be seen from the "Description & parametrics" tab of the each product folder. The TPS82084 has a slightly higher maximum input voltage and considerably higher maximum output voltage. The TPS82084 also has a much lower quiescent current to reduce power consumption. I would recommend designing with the TPS82084.

    Regards,

    Jimmy

  • Is there any technique improvement in TPS82084?
  • Hi Zhengqing,

Can you give an example of what you mean by technique improvement?

These are fairly different devices, though they both provide 2A from a low Vin rail. The LMZ is a voltage mode control device with a fixed frequency pin, while TPS uses DCS-Control (COT topology) with a power save mode. They are different sizes. TPS has a better MSL level. There are many such small differences.

What is your application and key care abouts?
