LMZ30606: Layout around pin 37 (PGND)

Part Number: LMZ30606

I am working on the grounding arrangements around pin 37 PGND and the connection to AGND.

The data sheet (P.23) gives a suggested layout with a solid AGND top layer plane connected to PGND at pin 37 only.

The evaluation board layout (P7 of the user guide) shows a similar layout for the top layer AGND plane but with the PGND connections isolated. The AGND connection is then at the vias near pins 33 and 34.

I am assuming that the eval. board is the best reference but is there a definitive answer?

Thanks.

  • The datasheet shows a 2 layer layout while the EVM is a 4 layer layout. Both layouts show the connection from AGND to PGND around pad 37 using vias. The datasheet has pad 37 connected to the AGND plane on the top layer, while the EVM makes the connection on the bottom layer. Either layout will work. The main requirement is that AGND only connects to PGND at one point.
