LM8365: LM8365 delay time limit

Part Number: LM8365
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS3890, TPS3808

Hello team,

My name is Oliver Kim and I wonder whether I can use the LM8365 with 10s delay time.

As you know. figure 12 of LM8365 datasheet only shows the only small range of time control.

How can I calculate the capacitor value if I want to select 10s output time delay?

And what kind of issues are occurred if I use LM8365 with 10s output time delay?

Thank you.

  • Oliver,

I do not see any problem using a larger capacitor for a 10s delay. We do not test at this large delay so you must test the device over operating conditions to validate the long delay use case. We have TPS3808 and TPS3890 which are both tested with delays up to 10 seconds and are higher performing devices. The biggest concern with large delay is that a large capacitor is required and large capacitors usually have larger variation so the delay might not be as accurate.

Please let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks!
