UCD90160A: UCD90160A

Part Number: UCD90160A

I am having an issue with connecting to the UCD90160A. When I select Fusion Designer Online I get a "No Device Found" error.

I had a telecon with Russ W. recently 5/1 and I do not remember what we did to fix this one. My address bins are 8 and 8.

I can see the SCL and SDA lines are toggling but the program gives me a "No Device Found" error.

  • Hi Nathan

Were you able to talk to the same device before? do you happen to change anything, dongle, board?
Do you use latest Fusion GUI 7.0.25?

One thing i would recommend is to enable the PEC on the USB-TO-GPIO Dongle. please follow Figure 6-15 and 6-16 of
    www.ti.com/.../slvub51.pdf

Once the tool is launched, click the SAA settings ... at the top-right corner:
    enable the PEC
if there are already pull-up resistors on I2C in your own board, you may want to change the pull-up in dongle to open-drain?

    Please give it a try.

    Regards

  • Yes, We had non-A versions on the card then we switched to A versions. We had an A version that got programmed but we had a set back with the board. The board got repaired. When we went to talk to the 90160A it would only work if the board was up and running. In housekeeping mode only the 90160A would return "no device found". We replaced the 90160A and have not been able to talk to it since. I have a second board that has the A versions as well and it returns the same error.

We do have the latest version of Fusion.

We tried your changes and had the same results "no device found".

I am going to uninstall Fusion and reinstall it.
  • No luck with the uninstall re-install
  • Hi Nathan

The same device working under normal mode but not on housekeeping mode. swapping UCD90160A did not change the behaviors.

What's the housekeping mode vs normal mode? Did UCD90160A have power under housekeeping mode?

    Regards

    Yihe

  • Housekeeping mode would be just supplying 3.3V to the 90160.

I have two cards, each card has two identical PS. four power supplies total. I replaced all 4 supplies with A versions. 3 out of 4 will not program I get the "no device found".

The last 1 out of 4 I got help from you guy's. We got it to program. Then the power supply burnt up during a test. After fixing it it will power-up fine. I can talk to the 90160 after it has powered up the board. In housekeeping mode I get the "no device found".

I am not worried about the last one I am worried about the 3 out of 4 that I can't program because I get the "No device found" error right off the bat.

I went from a non-A version to an A version and I get "no device found".

  • Hi Nathan

Do you check Russ W about what has been done to help you in the past? I did not recall anything from Russ about this.

So 4 out of 4 A devices did not work under housekeeping mode? but you can access non-A device under housekeeping mode.

Could you please check 3.3V and Reset signal(Pin 9) make sure that both are under correct state?

    Regards

  • Yihe,

The issue was with the 3.3V. 3.3V was not meeting the VDDSlew minimum rate of 0.25V/ms. Thanks for your help.
