ADS8318 - Minimum analog voltage supply

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS8318, LP5907

Hi There - I'd like to understand if it would be acceptable to supply the +VA pin of the ADS8318 from say a LP5907 with a fixed 4.5V output. 4.5V is the minimum recommended supply in the datasheet (obviously well within the absolute maximum ratings). Would this be acceptable, taking accuracy and the like into account or would one rather design with more margin in mind, i.e. greater than 4.5V, but not equal to 4.5V?

  • Hello Gideon,

It is acceptable to supply +VA with 4.5V, the datasheet specs 5V as the typical but there will be no degration in performance if at 4.5V. Having more head room is simply up to the user and application. I would just take a second look to make sure this does not limit any other aspects on your use case.
