DRA829V: What's the use case for the HyperFlash/HyperRAM on the DRA829V SOM board?

Part Number: DRA829V
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRA829

Hi,

This question came up and I'm trying to understand it better. The DRA829V SOM board has a Cypress HyperFlash/HyperRAM combo (multi-die) device on it, each on it's own CS#. The schematic shows it as U25 S71KS512SC0. I visually checked and there is a device soldered on there. I read in the Linux SDK release notes that HyperRAM is not supported in Linux. My question is, what's the use case of having both HyperFlash and HyperRAM? Is this primarily intended for MCU use?

Thanks
