TMDSEVM437X: eMMC reset Pin is conflict with MII,Could we change to other Pins?

Part Number: TMDSEVM437X

Hii Sir

About Referent design TMDSEVM437X:

Pin B3 use for eMMC reset。

But we need to use MII, It conflicts with the Reset of eMMC.

so we change eMMC_Reset from Pin (B3)  and Pin (A2). Does it work?

Thanks

Qin

  • I would like to address your comment, where you called the TI evaluation board a reference design. The TMDSEVM437x was developed to be an AM437x evaluation board and should not be considered a system reference design. Portions of the EVM design may not meet your specific system requirements. Therefore, the system designer is responsible for validating their product design meets specific system level requirements across all operating conditions.

You question is an example, where you need to understand your systems usage of each pin with respect to the attached device. The impact of hardware and software must be considered.

From a hardware perspective, both pins implement the same IO buffer type and both receive power from VDDSHV11. Therefore, I would not expect a hardware issue.

Do you plan to boot from eMMC?  If not, you only need to understand the impact of your system software and make the appropriate changes. If you do plan to boot from eMMC, you need to understand expectations of the ROM boot code. Expectations of the ROM boot code can be found in the TRM. You may not be able to use a different pin if the eMMC ROM boot code is using this pin to reset the eMMC device before booting.

  • Hi Paul

Got your point, Yes, We plan to boot up from eMMC.

But we will boot up from SD card first then try to Bootup eMMC when we are ready.

    We will double-check the Pins.

    Thanks
