J721EXCPXEVM: If I need another fusion expansion board when I an using J721EXCPXEVM board.

Part Number: J721EXCPXEVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: J721EXSOMXEVM,

Hi

We will buy J721EXCPXEVM and J721EXSOMXEVM to build our platform of ADAS system in the future.

And we want to know if we can input the camera data just using J721EXCPXEVM and J721EXSOMXEVM, not needing another expansion board? Such as

Fusion Serial Capture Board and so on.

Because, after reading the datasheet of J721EXCPXEVM, we noticed that there are two HSD connecter inside the board.

One is FPD Interface(Audio Deserializer) and anther one is FPD panel interface(DSI Video Serializer), which are like camera input and output.

But we can not make sure if these two interface are enough for camera data input.

Looking forward to your answer.

Thank you

  • Camera data can be collected from a couple different interfaces using the EVM.  Yes - the Fusion Serial Capture board can be used to connect up to 8 camera sensors and transport the data over FPD-Link into the processor via CSI2 interface.  Another option is to use the Jacinto7 Audio/Video Expansion Board (https://www.ti.com/tool/J7EXPEXEVM) which has two different connectors for interfaces with camera sensor modules (3rd party sensors).  This allows data to be capture by the processor via the parallel/VPFE interface.

  • Hi, Robert

Thank you very much for your replies.

So, you mean that if we want to connect any camera sensor to EVM(J721EXCPXEVM), we need Fusion Serial Capture Board or Jacinto7 Audio/Video Expansion Board, don't you?

And, using Fusion Serial Capture board is more possible for us. So, I want to ask more about this board.

1st, what is the order id of Fusion Serial Capture board, we searched it on TI homepage, but unfortunately we can not get any useful information. Could you help me to confirm this order ID or any order method?

2nd, we want to know how is the performance of Fusion Serial Capture board? Is it supporting for 8Mp (mega pixel) , MIPI-CSI2 interface(may be it is same with CSI interface as you said)?

  • Hi, Robert

Maybe, you are too busy to answer this issue immediately.

If you noticed this mail, could you confirm my questions as above?

    I will be very grateful.

    Looking forward to your replies.

    Thank you.

  • Hello Robert,  I'm sorry to cut-in this conversation, but this is bit urgent to make a decision to buy this video card.

    - Just to make sure if the VPFE (video processing front end ) interface supports BT656 ?

    - If yes,  we would like to record 8M pixel data that  is input as BT656,  so please tell us which DES chip is used in the board ?

Also is the DES chip in the VPFE support to input 8M( 3840x1920) pixel data ?

     Thanks for your support !

  • The Fusion board can be ordered from SVTronics:

    https://svtronics.com/EVM577PFUSION-V1-0-fusion

The design supports the DS90UB960, which can support 1.5Gbps per lane (4 lanes)

  • From the Technical Reference Manual, the modes supported with VPFE are:
