TDA2PXEVM: Processor SDK 8 on TDA2Px-EVM

Part Number: TDA2PXEVM

Hello all,

I want to know if I can build Processor SDK 8 for TDA2Px-EVM as I didn't find it in the supported machines: https://software-dl.ti.com/jacinto7/esd/processor-sdk-linux-jacinto7/latest/exports/docs/devices/J7/linux/Release_Specific_Yocto_layer_Configuration.html#yocto-layer-configuration

Although when I tried to bitbake for dra7xx i didn't get any error so is it possible to use the new SDK 8 release for TDA2Px-EVM?

If I can't use this release for TDA2Px-EVM I need to build a yocto project based on different distribution than thud on TDA2Px-EVM as the only Processor SDK version that is written in its documentation explicitly that it supports dra7xx-evm family is the Processor SDK  6.x which is based on thud.

Thanks in Advance.

Best regards,

Kirollos Henry

  • Hi Kirollos,

The Processor SDK 8 link that you are referring to is explicitly for Jacinto 7 devices. TDA2Px-EVM is part of the Jacinto 6 family.

For the TDA2Px-EVM, the latest release is Processor SDK 6.x which is based on thud. There are no further releases planned for this as it is stable working version requiring no further updates. And yes, this is based on thud branch. Therefore no newer officially support branch exists that is newer than thud.

The dra7xx-evm is supported upstream and therefore one should be able to build and boot the device with a newer Yocto version that would also update the kernel and dependent components, but the entire Vision SDK and associated demos may or may not work with the more recent kernel and Yocto and this would need further work. TI is not planning to support this.
